vegas 12 wont use opencl

I have a GTX660 which uses CUDA but since that implenetation is broken and Sony hasn't fixed it I enabled my onboard Intel HD4600 GPU and so I'm trying to render using opencl. The problem is when I do the check for GPU test it only says "cuda is available" and when I go to settings and the drop box for GPU I only see the Nvidia (which doesn't work due to sony not patching).

How do you get it to use opencl when you also have an nvidia card in addition to an Intel one?

Ah. Good question. What is your MB and what are your BIOS settings? What does Movie Studio do if you disable the NVidia card and enable the Intel iGPU? Are you sure that they can both be simultaneously enabled in your setup?

That may not be what you want on a routine basis, but at least it will give us a feel for how Movie Studio looks at the possible GPU presentations.

FYI
41s AVCHD 1080i (with GPU enabled transition) using
- cpu only= 1m:07s
-gpu = 0:59s

I don't have my iGPU enabled. When I try the Intel Quicksync options, I get an error from Movie Studio. Do you see these options in the codec of interest? I used the Sony AVC 1920x1080i template. Presumably you see them too?

MSmart,

Good links and VERY pertinent. A good read for all interested in using GPU acceleration with an external GPU and internal GPU.

One more piece o finfo. The Sony AVC template offers Quicksync video. The Mainconcept rendering template offers OpenCL.

Same project using Mainconcept:
cpu -1:15 (twice)
OpenCL 1:14
CUDA 1:14

Not much difference. For the MC template, it needs to be rendered to mp4 though. I was using m2ts for the Sony AVC template.
