Vegas 13 Startup Crash - FIX

I just purchased the upgrade to Vegas 13 a few days ago, and obviously had the same start-up crash problem. The first real workaround I read within this forum was getting the FileIO Plug-Ins folder out of the way. Others pointed to Vaast having something to do with it. I can see why, because in removing the FileIO Plug-Ins folder, Vegas got further in it's initialization for me, and began crashing at Vaast Plug-Ins in the progress bar.

So, in looking over all the files found in the Vegas Pro 13 install directory, my attention was drawn to the x86 folder. Since, for me, the crash seemed to have had something to do with Vaast, I removed the executable called sfvstserver.exe found in "C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 13.0\x86\" and Vegas 13 began opening without crashing anymore, with the FileIO Plug-Ins folder back intact. It seemed that little file was the only real problem for me, and made the FileIO Plug-Ins folder look like the bad guy.

I have that file tucked away in hopes for a fix later...not sure of the impact it will have on using Vegas while it's missing.

Hope this helps!

David,

I think that file has to do with VST plugins.

I had been experiencing startup crashes for over two years and by process of elimination I found that the installer for VASST's production Assistant V2, left behind remnants of V1.

Once I deleted the V1 remnants, all versions of Vegas on this system have been rock solid.

HTH,
Tom

I see. Well, I thought the vst letters meant Vasst or something. Either way, for me it was a matter of me simply removing that one file and Vegas 13 starts up just fine. However, DVD Architect 6.0 is still a mystery for me. I had a perfectly working version of 6.0 before I uninstalled everything in order to install all the new upgrades. Now after re-installing it, DVDA crashes on initialization.

I am sure the people from VASST will agree with me that you do NOT have a problem with their products - they write in concert with Sony SCS better than anyone.

You had a serious conflict with VST- a whole different issue and quite well documented over recent years.
