Vegas 14 Online License Verification

When I open Vegas 14 and it can't get online during the boot it will inform me that I have no license after I try to import media. I rebooted my machine and it worked ok. Why do I have to have the Internet activated to operate Vegas 14?

I replaced the router with a newer used Linksys router and it corrected the problem of Vegas 14 causing a reboot.
