Vegas 15 also has filename rendering issue i had with 14

Hi guys,

I can't find out why Vegas 14 suddenly at one point in time started naming all the rendered files as temporary files...

When I render an MP4 for example, the end product in the folder I render it to is not an MP4 but a file that has a . tmp extention, like Myrenderedmovie.mp4.tmp. Also in the dialogue box the option to open the movie is always greyed out nowadays.

I was hoping installing Vegas 15 would completely reset this strange bug, but it does exactly the same thing, I already tried re-installing 14 in an administrator profile but that didn't work.

It's not a huge problem because I can rename the files, take out the .tmp part and they are fine then, but it's really annoying and i can't remember how this started. I did install windows 10 at some point and started working in it instead of windows 7, but i think this problem started later on...

Does anybody have any idea why this is?

Which render template/codec are you using to create the mp4 file?

Vegas does render to a temp file, and then does a rename to delete the ".tmp" when it is done. Apparently this last step is not occurring. You might try running Vegas as Administrator - if that fixes it, then you just have to set up the proper admin rights.

Sony AVC/MVC , I just tried MOV for testing and to my surprise that worked fine, so it seems to make a difference?

I did some tests and it seems that Vegas only has trouble renaming the .tmp file when I use the Sony AVC/MVC template, during rendering in MOV format there is also a Myfile.MOV.TMP in the folder but it gets renamed when the rendering has finished....any thoughts?
