Vegas 16 keeps saving files as "type 13.0"

I just downloaded Vegas Pro 16 fairly recently. I then deleted the older versions I had on the computer. (It was just confusing having 3 different versions of the same program on 1 computer.) But now I am wondering if I messed something up when I did that? Because when I save .veg files in Vegas 16 it saves them as "file type Vegas 13.0"- and the icon is just a blank sheet of paper and the computer doesn't "recognize" those files when I reopen them. So every time I re-open those .veg files I have to tell the computer to use Vegas to open them, which seems odd. On top of that, the Vegas program also freezes a ton when working on it, just in general. So basically my question is why isn't my Vegas Pro 16 saving files as "type 16.0"?? And why aren't they automatically opening up in Vegas 16? And is this related to all the freezing up I am dealing with??

Any help is appreciated! I have contact Magix directly, but they aren't much help. I am wondering if I messed something up with the deleting of "old Vegas files" I did, and maybe need a new download of Vegas Pro 16??

When you use W10, you can tell Windows by stating in the default used apps for a .veg file that it should be your new Vegas16.

And is this related to all the freezing up I am dealing with??

Don't think so, but it depends on the used hardware, the used GPU (s), the used sourcefiles, the used Vegas build, your settings in the program and so on, but you did not tell us.

W10 (1809)  .veg allocated to Vegas Pro (not version specific).    VP14,15,16 on PC.  Normally use VP16 but always included version in veg file name.

In other words, when I went in to W10 to designate what .veg files would be designated as- Vegas 16 wasn't even given as an option. :/

If you installed Vegas Pro 16 at the designed location for it, ic. C:\Programfiles than in those settings you can choose C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGASPro160.exe for storing and executing that filetype.
