Vegas 16 slower render than Vegas 13

Colm-S wrote on 2/12/2020, 9:57 PM

I am using Dell Precision T5500 dual Xeon quadcore 54gb ram and Nvidia 4000. Mainly drama projects with basic brightness/contrast on main vid track and light colour correction on a few clips. Very basic titles. My render time is twice in Vegas 16 is twice what it was in Vegas 13 where I was getting close to realtime render times with no CC projects. I am using the same render template Internet 1920 x 1080 Sony AVC with GPU enabled. The Mainconcept Mp4 option does not seem to be available. Nor does max bitrate and average bitrate option. Reducing bitrate has minimal effect on render time. Having a major effect on workflow and productivity. Can anyone suggest settings?

Instead, use the Magix AVC template, you should notice some presets have NVENC next to them, you'll want to use those. If you have a crash while rendering, update your GPU driver to the latest studio driver from Nvidia.

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

Thank you for response. I'm not seeing the presets you mention in the right hand side of the "render as" window. Are they somewhere else? The Nvidia GPU is showing up okay in Video Preferences so Vegas knows it is there. "Allow legacy GPU rendering" is checked in General Preferences.

Can you show a screenshot of your rendertemplates after clicking render as.....
What is your Windows version?

I searched your video card, if you look at first graph your card performs very badly, but graph is called 'pre fix' you could read that article to see what the fix is https://techgage.com/article/exploring-magix-vegas-pro-16-gpu-performance/

@Colm-S

Thanks for the Info.
From what I see you have no NVENC options, probably because your GPU has no NVENC but only the old CUDA option.
Do you use the latest drivers for that 4000 card?
Look here: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/130260/en-uk
With me the templates available in VP16 are these for the laptop from signature:

Thank you. I have updated the Nvidia Quadro 4000 drivers and given Vegas a profile in the Nvidia control panel. Still no Nvenc templates showing up in Render As.

.......and given Vegas a profile in the Nvidia control panel.

That has no sense while your GPU has not the NVENC options afaik compared to the Geforce 10 series and higher.

I have done a ctrl shift start up on Vegas to clear cache. Started a fresh project with one clip. Still no Nvenc templates.

Thanks for the help.

The Quadro 4000 is a 10 year old card, released before NVENC was a feature. As a result, this card does not support the new encoding features in VEGAS Pro 16.

@VEGASDerek

Thanks for the confirmation of my findings 👍
