Vegas 18 - rendering error

adimatis wrote on 8/5/2020, 4:12 PM

Hi,

Downloaded and installed Vegas 18.

Added a few short clips, click render as and .

Windows is up-to-date.

Drivers are up-to-date.

.NET is 4.8, which is up-to-date.

The same clips in Vegas 17 render fine.

Does not make any difference any of these, I tried all options:

- GPU off or 1050Ti or HD630

- File I/O options, checked/unchecked every option, tried all decoders

- Render as NVENC or not

- Render as MAGIX AVC or HEVC or Sony AVC (here the error message was slightly different )

- with added FX or plain, unedited at all footage

- with or without audio tracks

If I choose MainConcept - MPEG2 it will render, but this is not the format I need or want.

BTW, neither Video for Windows (.avi) works. The same error.

Any other ideas?

Thanks!

I encountered same render problems. But setting DRAM=0 in preferences solved it (until next experiments....).

Thanks, I'll try that. I forgot about that workaround! :) I knew there must one that I missed... Possibly more...

No problem here (FHD 60P footage) with Intel 8750K and Nvidia 1050ti. Renders all formats tested without issue including avc, hevc, and avi. Dynamic RAM set to default (200mb).

I didn't mess up with internal preferences...

Never had a render issue before.

Probably less relevant, but the files are .mp4 FHD 50p from G85 camera. Vegas 17 deals with them just right.

Hello Friends,

This afternoon I spent some more time with this and I find the reason, and so the solution for the problem.

For some reason, Vegas 18 does not like/want me to save a rendered file on DESKTOP. So, when I changed the folder where to save elsewhere, it rendered the clips as expected.

So, good news! :)

I did not have this issue with Vegas 17, I like rendering on Desktop as I then can easily manage files, etc.

I don't know if this is by design or otherwise, but this is what happened.

I hope this might be helpful to someone else who might encounter the same issue.
