Vegas 19 Build 643. Always crashes when undoing any GL Transition

User8385 wrote on 6/29/2022, 9:29 AM

Hi all,

Finally made the jump to Vegas 19 (was using 18 for about a year).

I seem to have a bug where any time I add a GL transition, it adds fine ( I can also add in multiple GL transitions fine ), however if I press CTRL+Z to undo the add, vegas always crashes.

Any other type of transition (including 3rd party NewBlue / BCC) I can add and undo without issue.

I have added some screenshots to show some of the tweaks i did when i first installed Vegas 19 to help with stability.

This is what the crash log shows:

I am running a RTX 3070ti and recently updated to the "Studio" drivers as I thought that might help with stability.

Thank you

Curious, is an RTX3070ti needing that legacy AVC decoding?

RAM reservation 75% could kill not only VEGAS but also your system.

I disabled the legacy AVC decoding

I put it down to 30% for the RAM reservation

Still crashes every time when i undo the GL transition add

@User8385 Hi, can you go to your icon at the top, click it - My Profile, & fill in your Signature with your Vegas version, Windows version & system specs, full name of CPU, GPU, & amount of RAM etc. this will then show at the bottom of the comments,

Also there's a tool called MediaInfo, download it, it's free https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo
After downloading, right click on the media in your Windows folder, open MediaInfo, choose Text from the View option, select all, copy & paste in a comment here,

On mine file I/O i have nothing ticked, i don't work with HEVC, if i did maybe i'd need to lick Legacy HEVC but i don't & i haven't changed this that i remember

And presumably you don't get the crash if you follow the same steps I mentioned ?

I can replicate the crash 100% of the time.

@User8385 Nope, i just added half a dozen 1920x1080 60fps, played them, Ctrl+Z, added, added, Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+Z added... no problem, apart from 50% ram i have set for building Dynamic ram (i have 256GB of RAM to play with tho), , my Vegas is pretty much at default settings, perhaps these 'tweaks i did when i first installed Vegas 19 to help with stability' were not improvements, consider resetting Vegas then see what happens, ?

PS. if you haven't already, check your GPU Studio driver is up to date, Nvidia Geforce Experience can help with that https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/geforce-experience/

Just to confirm, you are testing with the "GL transition" - as they are the only ones that cause the crash with the undo.

What is the quickest way to reset Vegas back to default ?

Thank you

coincidentally there is a new Studio driver released today!. I will upgrade and see if that fixes the issue.

Thanks

@User8385

To me it looks you changed someting to the default File I/O settings,
What happens if you set it back to default?

I'm also on 512.96. I just added a couple of GL transitions and did an undo on both of them with no issues.

Former user wrote on 6/29/2022, 3:51 PM

@User8385 I upgraded earlier to 516.59 but when i wrote earlier that was on the previous driver, it still works fine, Yes only the GL transitions, I've never had to reset Vegas so someone else will give you better advise 👍

For some reason i can't upload video on here, so this on YT, each time a transition is deleted it's me doing Ctrl+Z

A quick update here.

One a completely separate machine (AMD 5800, rtx3080 laptop). I opened Vegas 19, which was version 636. I saw the message that "Important update available". I did the update to the latest 643.

After the update, i was able to 100% reproduce the crash by add a GL transition and then press CTRL+z.

I then found the vegas19.exe , held down CTRL+SHIFT and double clicked the file. I then saw this:

I did not click on the check box and clicked yes. Vegas started and when i tried to reproduce the crash, i could not !!!!

I tried adding , mixing, stretching the GL transitions and then pressing CTRL+Z but no more crashing !

I have not applied this fix to my main machine as I wanted to confirm exactly what preferences were reset ? is it just the stuff in Options --- Preferences or something else?

Would my render / project settings be wiped?

Thank you !

@User8385, next time also check that box. It's good to clear the cache as well as reset the settings.

RogerS wrote on 7/1/2022, 11:36 AM

It's just preferences. Render settings, presets, erc. remain.

Former user wrote on 7/1/2022, 11:56 AM

@User8385 Glad you found an answer, like i say my Vegas is pretty much at the default settings & that resetting yours might be the key, I wonder what you had changed, what little tweak you did that made the transitions not work for you,
