Very strange
If you alter the size with pip and you open the color grading tool
the preview window size suddeny changes and you can't set it back
You have to remove pip
@Wiew I don't have any portrait images to try, but I did put a 4:3 image on the timeline. Used PiP to make larger to zoom in on a part of the image, and then clicked on the color grade icon at the bottom of the screen. There was no change in the way the image looked.
Send me a portrait image to test.
ADDED: Have you tried Event Pan/Crop?

We have tried to reproduce this problem, but so far it is behaving as expected for us.
@VEGASDerek , @Reyfox I updated the Nvidia drivers to the latest (released today)
The result over here is the same , very strange .;-( ??
BTW if I set the GPU acceleration in the preferences to Nvidea the result is the same
But the sizing on the preview screen doesn't work anymore
