Vegas 20 Pro Editing In 3d

Javier-LarrotchaFernandez wrote on 12/25/2022, 3:11 PM

According to the Vegas Pro 20 specifications, it supports 3D editing. I see that in the properties of the clips used, Vegas only detects one video stream and not the two that should contain the clips recorded in 3D. After editing and rendering with Sony AVC/MVC format and MVC template 1920x1080 24p - 25Mbps, and creating an Iso - Blu Ray file with 5.1 audio, even though my player and my tv detect a 3D signal the visualization is 2D.
Is it a bug or do you have to configure Vegas in a special way?

What is the source of the video? A mediainfo report may help.

When you add your source video to the timeline do you see 1 video track or two? If two, you probably need to combine them into a 3D subclip. If you only see one video track, you may need to go to the clips properties and tell Vegas what the source clips 3D mode is.

Check out the 3D documentation in the user manual.

Re-reading your post I also wonder...were you able to view the clip as 3D while editing? 3D videos can be visualized in several different ways in Vegas.

Finally, what 3D format does your tv need? Perhaps this is a rendering issue?

a) I see only one video track. In 3d mode i use side by side format

b) During editing I can't see 3D because my monitor is not 3D

c) In earlier versions of Vegas, 2 video tracks appear in the clip properties on the timeline. Now I follow the same steps in Vegas 20 but it only detects one track.
I render the same as in previous versions (14,15,16,18) and despite the fact that the MVC file is created and my television detects a 3D signal, it looks 2D.
Perhaps the problem is that Vegas 20 must be configured differently, but the manual does not indicate that it is necessary to proceed in a different way than I do. Or maybe the error is in the programming of Vegas 20

Thanks for your answer

During editing you can view 3D in sbs, anaglyph, difference, etc. This would be a good check whether V20 is handling the source video as 3D. The difference mode, in particular, is very useful when correcting the 3D alignment of the left and right views.

AFAIK the 3D editing in Vegas hasn't changed for many generations. I'm afraid I haven't installed V20 yet---my computer is trying to die & I hope to replace it first.

If V20 has a 3D problem then hopefully one of the other 3D enthusiasts here will respond.

In the meantime...

Do you still have V18 installed? Can you edit this video successfully with V18?

Can you provide more information, or a dropbox example, of the source video?

Project settings, render settings, clip properties from Vegas may help.

Surprisingly I have been able to load my project in V18 with all the plugins used in V20 and also make the Blu Ray.Iso file
This shows that it is necessary to configure some parameter that I have not been able to find or that the V20 software contains an error.
I hope someone with more knowledge than me on the matter comes along and can help solve the problem.
I'm aware that few people use 3D, and Magix may not want to waste your time, but if the option is available in V20 I think it should work fine.

Thanks for your help

Glad you got that to work.

You might submit a support request. I'd be surprised if it's a bug...but that's a good reason to have them check it out in itself.

I'm sorry, the 3D files I have are Blu Ray.Iso files of a personal nature, with a minimum duration of 20 minutes and an approximate weight of 4GB. If you have the possibility of playing .Iso files. I can render 2 or 3 clips with a duration of about 15 seconds, but I should send it to you by e-mail.
It may not be immediately, but if you are interested let me know

Assuming you have recorded the video with a 3D camcorder you usually need to right click on the video and click “pair with next stream”. Even if you do not see another file that seems to work. If it is sbs click that. By your comments I assume you know that but in case a beginner happens upon the site I thought I would add it.

My problem was solved with the new version of Vegas 20 (Build 370). So I think it was a problem with the program, although the Technical Service had told me that I had to change my graphics card. Fortunately I ignored them
