No matter what codec I use, whethr I use SureStream or nor, and no matter what combination of options I use, the first 30 seconds of every file in Real I render comes out jerky and blurry over the Internet on DSL home. T1 is fine but anything slower, I get hollow audio and screwed up vidoe0. Never had this problem with Vegas 2.0. Server software is up to date. File usually playes fine after 00:30. I dpn't have this problem in Windows Media!!

www.musicmatters.neu.edu
is the website and "Animals in Music" is the offending program.

Hope somebody has a clue...I"ve been at this for weeks and am totally stumped!

The file is playing fine on cable here after buffering for about 10 seconds. I just tested my connection with toast.net's performance tester and it's running at 1136Kbps. How fast is your DSL connection? The video is encoded at 225Kbps and the bandwidth needed averages around 245Kbps. I've found that you usually need to have a connection at least 50% faster than the needed bandwidth to get a good transmission. Is your DSL line giving you a good solid 370Kbps or better?

It seems to me though that if it was a connection speed problem that it would only increase the buffering time rather than reducing the quality ... unless ... you have multiple streams available on your server? Could it be that your RealServer is offering a reduced quality stream automatically for your DSL line? Check the playback statistics during the first few seconds to see if you're getting the full 225Kbps stream.

Thank you fpr getting bsvl to me with hour info. My DSL speed should be fine...but don't know howe to clock it on-line. I'll check to see if the university server's software is up to snuff. My webmaster uses different DSL service...gets exact same blurry / hollow results as I do!
