My performance for VV3 is better than VV2. Or at least there is no noticable differance. The extra features aren't eating up CPU cycles for me. Maybe there is a sound/video card problem with VV3???

post your system configuration.

No prob....PIII 733, Win98SE, 256MB ram, two hard drives (one for data, one for progs), I'm at work so I'm going through a SoundMax (?) audio card.....

Is there something running in the background that I can turn off? It's really alarmingly slow.....the mouse becomes unresponsive after pressing the space bar to start play, and there's a lot of break-up...

Thanks

Hang in there, it is usually one simple little thing that needs setting up.
-------------------
Like maybe a reboot? Could be your registery took a hit from some new program that you loaded. Then again it might be Vegas 3 not happy with W98?

Sluggish?? I experienced my PC being slow only while capturing mouse was like hella slow.

System
1.4amd, asus board a7m266, 1/2 gig ram, G2 vid.....

I enabled the DMA and my drive and now the drive is a freaking rocket. Slow me down!! And capturing perfect NO dropping frames and/or sluggish mouse (delaying)

Thanks for all your help, but it can't be my system. I know this for various reasons.

I can play the same project at home on my PII 233 with no probs...if V3 requires such massive overhead that I can't play the *same project* on a 733 without major probs, well, I think I'll stick with 2.0. I was happy with it anyway.

A few more questions--I'm certain we'll figure out what's going on here...

First, have you tried to just play back a single audio file (make sure it is on a local hard disk) on this new computer? Is it still sluggish to start? How about with a single video? what about with the audio muted?

Second, can we get a few details about the project that you are having trouble with... How many tracks of video? audio? what plug-ins do you have running (both audio and video)?

Thanks,
-curt.

in VV3? or VV2? try VV3 on your 233 and see if your project plays with no probs. i suspect it will, if it plays fine in VV2. i haven't noticed any more cpu util in vv3 as compared to vv2, and i do keep an eye on these things. could be a bug though with something eating cpu cycles, but it must be rare, since no one else is reporting this problem (yet).
