I'm pretty new to DV editing, my problem is...I created a project (family party) and add a 2nd audio track. I used MP3's for this track. When I play the project before rendering, everything sounds great, however, when I finished up and burned it to DVD the 2nd audio track sound pretty bad. It sounds kind of clipped and mildly distorted. Should I not be using MP3's? Or am I missing something else. Also when I try to Capture from my DV camera it will only capture for around 5 seconds then it stops...any ideas.

Mp3 is not the greatest as it is highly compressed. However, if it sounds good at the start, it should sound good when you are done.

Is it a case of your monitoring it on cheap computer speakers, and listening to the DVD on a better systemm than reveals how bad it really is? In any case, keep your eye on the audio meters while you are creating the projecct. The limiters can also be a big help.

Not sure what your problem is with the camera. Is your time code continious?

Did you reduce the levels on the audio ? as the music will add up and perhaps exceed the 0dB level causing distortion.

Take each level down 6db to halve it

I have used MP3 and not had any problems, on Print or DVD, did alter the audio settings in the DVD ?
