ComeOnEileen wrote on 10/20/2004, 11:42 PM
i pretty know the easy basics on both programs, but some how i can't figure out how to do a "Main Menu" on the Vegas 4.0 program like in the DVD Architect Studio 2.0. Can i combine both programs into 1 dvd? The DVD Architect Studio doesnt have that "transitions" effect like in Vegas 4.0. maybe i didnt look harder? can anyone help? .... anyone?

I'm not sure I understand your question. I thought DVD Architect 2.0 was released with Vegas 5. My Vegas 4.0 has DVD Architect 1.0 I also notice the word 'studio' in your description of DVD architect. Is this a separate program, outside of vegas? (I just looked at the vegas products and didn't see the word 'studio' mentioned.) (Just found this in separate section>) Or is this Vegas Movie Studio + DVD? (2.0 not mentioned)

Just what are you trying to accomplish? I don't have transitions in my DVD-A either. But maybe somebody or even me, can figure out how to get the job done.

maybe i didnt read the book right. well i would like to do is add the "main menu" from the DVD architect with the videos and pics from the Vegas Movie Studo. Is that possible? because i really like how i did the videos and pics from Vegas ... with that transitions effects.

i tried to find the transitions effects in the DVD architect program but couldn't find it.

also i tried to find a way to make a 'main menu' from Vegas program but couldn't find it. ...... thats why i was wondering if i can add my project from Vegas and DVD arch project into 1 DVD .... im i explaining it ok? sounds hard?

Well, I have to base my answer on knowing only DVD-A 1.0 and I don't know if your 2.0 is the same as with Vegas 5.0, so here goes. On my DVD-A, you can make the main titles there, but you can import a short video (or long) to use as a backdrop and write the titles on top of that. So your video can have the transitions from Vegas, but the menu lettering from DVD-A. You can import a video with lettering and transitions to use as a backdrop, but it won't work as a menu. In my DVD-A, there is a 'Page Properties' on the upper right side and you will see a window that says 'background video/image' and you click on the file icon and find the .avi you want to use as a backdrop. That will bring your video into the DVD-A. (sound file right under the video/image, if you want sound too.) Then you can make your menu titles on top of that, but if you haven't made a DVD yet, it will still be a little difficult until you've done at least one. It all becomes very easy once you've done a few.

PS: you can watch it in the preview window of DVD-A too.

I was just thinking that I probably condensed my answer too much. Sometimes it's hard to tell how much information to write because if you write too much, it becomes confusing to a beginner. First, the scene with transitions in Vegas, needs to be rendered to an ".avi" (remember which file you put this in) before you can bring it into DVD-A, ready to use. (You can't go straight from the timeline to DVD-A) It can have the transitions and effects and even lettering, all mixed to one .avi. Then do as I said about using it for a background image.
When you make a menu, in DVD-A, you can 'right click' on the viewing screen of DVD-A and choose 'import media'. Then find the finished movie or video file. This will bring up a square that can be re-sized, that contains your video and title of the file. You can just use the title for the menu or use the square or both and it sort of works like a menu button, once the DVD is made. You may want to use a DVD-RW until you understand how this works.
If you need more clarity on this, just ask.
