SPOT,(Douglas Spotted Eagle)
has a Vegas 4 book soon to be released on Vegas 4 which can be found over at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1578202191/qid=1049995032/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/104-7109250-2456722?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

If you haven't already download the full manual in PDF format, plus the additonal 46 page tutorial on new version 4 features. This and other forums also have the latest info along with tips. tricks, etc.. Also see the database elsewhere on this site, plus use the search feature. That should keep you busy for a few days. If you're just starting out do the interactive Vegas tutorial so you get to know the basic features. Then visit my site which has more tutorials and links to other people that have still more tutorials, helps, tips, etc..

There aren't really any books specific to V4, with the notable exception of the new book by Douglas Spotted Eagle which is due out soon. This is probably because this is one of the most straightforward apps I've used. For non-V4 specific digital video stuff, I like "The little digital video book". Looks of good information in there.

Within the next few weeks, I will be releasing Fundamentals of Vegas, a video desgined to get you up and running quickly.

The video will be bundled with some exciting new software that makes Vegas even better than it already is!

bcbarnes, your comment on why there are no books sepcifically on Vegas (yet) coz its straightforward got me thinking: maybe there are books for other NLE coz you need a book to learn how to use them!!! (maybe editors and software co's have joint ventures/royalty schemes on book sales allowing for another stream of revenue...so better to keep the programme complicated...)

Sorry, maybe I'm just in a very cynical mood this evening...

Apologies! no offence intended!

Billyboy, I'm also fairly new to Vegas. I did download the manual, but it doesn't include the tutorial. Where can I find it. Thanks

where can i find this new 46 page tutorial on new vegas 4 features?
BillyBoy wrote on 4/10/2003, 6:04 PM
Scan up to the top of this page, under support, tutorials. I did myself, and while there are a bunch there I'm not sure the one I was referring to is part of those or if it got put somewhere else. I got mine on a CD, but I've seen others refer to a website reference. It seems there should be something newer. Anyway, what's there seems to cover the basics at least.

I haven't read all of the posts, but don't forget the VASST tour, coming to several major cities this summer. http://www.sundancemediagroup.com/aboutvasst.htm
We also have a second Vegas book coming shortly, the tips on the www.sundancemediagroup.com/help/kb pages, and the DVD series shipping very soon.
On the Sundance site you'll find more than 100 training veg's, 55 tutorials, and links to every major tutorial provider for Vegas, including Billyboy's very useful tut's.

BillyBoy, I tried this one and all you get is the new features of Version 4.0. No training or tutorial.
