Vegas 4.0 - Is it worth it? Plus I fixed it.

Dear VV Users,

It is time for me to make the decision if I am going to upgrade to 4.0 + DVD and take advantage of the upgrade savings. My questions is it worth? I am currently using 3.0.

I like some of the features, but I am currently using Sonic DVDIT publishing as well. Am I going to be really able to provide my clients with more options or features?

What is everyone's opinion about the Vision Series of textures and backdrops.

Is the Pixelan Software worth it?

Your feedback or suggestions is always appreciated.

* I previously put some posts up about how my system would lock up while rendering projects. I found the problem to be a compatability issue with my Creative Audigy card and NVIDIA graphics card. The system would also periodically automatically reboot. Mysteries there what makes computers fun.

For the upgrade to Vegas 4 + DVD, I would say it is definitely worth it. You will get all the new features of version 4 (too many to mention) plust with DVDA you get the AC3 encoder and features that DVDit doesn't have such as motion menus.

Can't comment on the other pieces.

Pixellan is awesome--one of the best out there.

The answer is a big YES! to all options...go for the VV4 + DVDA (easy as heck to learn and use) I just got the Pixelan Spicemaster & Spices and they are awesome. Vegas leaps to a new threshhold in V4.

I would have to agree with the Pixelan SpiceMaster2 also. While it has many features, the one that stands out in my mind is how simple it is to get PiP so easily that is NOT limited to plain rectangular shapes. Downlaod the trial and play with it for a while.

Glad to hear you were able to fix your compatability issue; those can drive you nuts. I have a new ASUS MB with onboard audio, but was considering puchasing Audigy. I currently have a new nVidia Geforce 4400 TI graphics card that appears stable (where is a real piece of wood when you need it).

Just curious as to your resolution. Thanks, Kevin.

Yes, it's worth it, if for nothing else, the waveform and vectorscope! The media management (bins) pretty well makes it worth upgrading too. For that matter, they toss in some FX for free, and . . . well you catch my drift - get off your wallet!

I am using a 800 x 600 resoultion, is this what you were looking for? 16 Bit.

Thanks for your feedback. I look forward to getting 4.0 and the DVDA

Thanks again,
