Vegas 4.0c crashing: NTDLL.DLL in report

Sidecar wrote on 8/4/2003, 10:53 PM
Running XP Home, Matrox G550 vid card, Delta 1010LT audio card.

Vegas is crashing while I am editing 5.1 Surround mode. Same show in stereo never crashed once. Any ideas?

Error report after the crash shows the following, with ntdll.dll and audio5reader.

Is it a problem with Windows or Vegas, the audio or video card? Help?

Thanks.

At best a wild guess...

When you get a dump like you posted Windows is trying to tell you what it was doing at the time. The file causing the problem is frequently the first one mentioned. In your case ntdll.dll.

You can use Windows built-in Search entering the file name, to see where it is located on your sytem, if you have more than one copy and so on. Once you have that information right click on the file and see who's it is. This is Windows file. A further bit of checking shows on my system at least it was upgraded in Service Pack One. So that's a clue. If you haven't installed Windows Service Pack, you may wish to try that.
Before you do, check Microsoft's Knowledgebase for more clues. Other people may have reported a similar problem. It could be something wrong with the DLL or something conflicting with in on your system or yes, even a problem with Vegas. Which or if something else requries more checking.

As it appears to be audio related my first move would be to check for an updated driver for your sound card.
