Vegas 4.0c & Emagic's Logic dongle

After I first purchased the Vegas 4.0 upgrade, immediately I had a problem that whenever I opened up the Vegas program, it wouldn't open and I'd recieve a rather long error message. This was frustrating. And I reported this to Sonic Foundry's support team.

Then I did some experimenting. Besides Vegas 4.0 and Emagic's Logic 5.1 (which requires a dongle to operate), I also own Steinberg's SX which also requires a dongle for activation. To shorten this story. . . it was Emagic's Logic dongle which somehow conflicted with Vegas 4.0

Again. . . I reported this to Sonic Foundry's support team.

Months later I've since updated Vegas to version 4.0c. In the meanwhile, I made it a habit to just not have that stupid Emagic dongle in the USB port so as to avoid problems with Vegas (which I use more often now).

About a week ago, I did use emagic's logic which required me to place the dongle in the USB port.

I forgot to take it out like I usually do when I'm done with this particular program.

And I've been using Vegas 4.0c. . . with the dongle in!!!

Now, mind you. . . it's the little things in life that pleases me. This is one of them! :)

I'm a happy camper! :)

Just curious, though. Was there a bug in Vegas that needed mending?? Or is this very small but pleasing new experience just a fluke??????

Whatever the case, I'm happy. I love using Vegas 4.0c. And I don't have to worry about that stupid dongle again. . . just keep it in the port where it belongs.

Cheers! :)

Ted

This is a Microsoft bug and will not (according to them) be fixed until the next major os release. In Vegas we added a pref to get around the problem ("Enable joystick support") and defaulted to off. Vegas 4 will now launch with the Logic dongle in place.

Somehow I'm not surprised that this is a Microsoft bug!

And yet, you guys seemed to find a work around to this small but enoying problem.

Simply put. . . . You're all great! :)
