Vegas 4 Bug?

This is a problem that has already been mentioned by PipelineAudio a few days ago, but no-one offered a solution:

Skipping on start of playback when track is armed, and then crackling. Hitting play or record while the track is armed causes a skip then some crackling that usually occurs soon after.

Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone have any ideas as to how to fix it?

I'm using a soundblaster live! with windows xp, on a pentium 4 2.40GHz with 512 MB of RAM

if you are running in MME mode and not asio, try this and see what happens...first save every app you have open because this may crash your PC.

In options preferences audiodevices advanced check the box that says "do not preroll playback buffers" or if its checked, uncheck it.

this isnt really a cure, but maybe a pointer to where the problem MIGHT be for the SF guys...seems to work for me sometimes sort of

hmmm. interesting. it was unchecked, so i checked it, and it seemed to make it worse. but it still crackles whether or not it's checked. it's actually more like random little clicks than crackling.

Are you using wave or ASIO drivers for the SBLive? If not, then turn off input monitoring on the armed tracks.

Wave drivers. Microsoft sound mapper. Input monitoring is also off. No luck.
