Vegas 4: could not initialize script engine

dreamlx wrote on 1/20/2003, 3:34 PM
Hi,

when I try to run a script I get the error message:

could not initialize script engine

Before submitting a report to SoFo I just wanted to ask you if anyone else has had this problem. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or just ignoring something. I use Windows XP Pro SP1.

Thanks in advance

Bye,
David

hi,

this is now working. You need to have Microsoft .net framework installed. This is documented in help. Sorry for my ignorance.

Hi,

well even after installing Microsoft .NET framework (+ Service Pack for .NET framework) I am still having the same problem. Any idea ? Or do I need to reinstall Vegas afterwards ?

David

Hi

This Link should get you do the direct download page on the Microsoft site for the .net update that you need - well, it worked on my WinXP system anyway!

Hi,

The .NET framework from Windows Update is installed, do you also have installed the SDK ?

Thanks in advance

Not that I know... but I don't know how to check this. For me it was a simple install of the 'dotnetredist.exe' from that link (about ~20mb) and the scripts ran fine.

Hi,

I was suggested by Sonic Foundry's support to uninstall and reinstall once. This solved the problem.

Renamed windows TEMP file to TEMP 2. Setup a new TEMP file and loaded ok. Mike
