Vegas 4 E Update: Preset Manager?

Grazie wrote on 11/20/2003, 10:03 PM
What is Preset Manager? I can guess but . . .

. . . . Anybody used this 4e update yet?

Advice: I'm mid-project on 4.0d. Shall I finish first before update install?

Anybody think that the Manual has been update?

. . . hmmmm nothing about Bins . . yet . . Guess it's for S-V5 - Now THAT would be a feature I suppose, not just a "Bug" fix - yeah?

Grazie

Overview from the Preset Manager Help file:

>The Preset Manager is now a standalone application that you can use to back up, transfer, and delete user-defined effects presets for ACID, Sound Forge, and Vegas software.
The Preset Manager is designed to work with existing plug-in presets and packages only. You will create your presets and preset packages in Sound Forge, Vegas, or ACID software.>

The current download for vegas40_manual.pdf is dated 5/7/2003

Grazie,

You should absolutely not update. General rule is not to tweak your system mid project. Why run the risk of introducing computer hassles unneccessarily. Also it doesn't not appear to be a that big of an update. You will not gain much, and you run the risk of something wierd happening that would cause you a lot of grief. How good is your backup process? Do you image your drive?

I agree, never upgrade software in the middle of a project. Unless you cannot complete the project due to a bug that the upgrade has been designed to fix, you are just asking for trouble.

I liked Michael Moore's question: Bush is an idiot, what's Blair's excuse?
To think that he got an Oscar. Ruins all the prejudices I've had against that institution.

Anyway, don't stir in the middle of a project.

Let's not start on Moore. Entertaining or not, one thing that film was NOT is a documentary, and the academy should be ashamed for awarding it an oscar as one. For me, it's same old, same old; the academy sucked, and still does.

Here is a list from the release notes page indicating the changes to version E. Not much. You also get the Sony name replacing SOFO, though it still installs to the old SOFO directory.
-------------------------------------------------------
Notable fixes/changes in version 4.0e

URL flip metadata commands are now supported when rendering to RealMedia 9.

A bug has been fixed that caused gain reduction when track envelopes are used and the pan mode was set to Constant Power.

A bug that prevented Vegas from closing some DV files has been fixed.

A bug has been fixed that could cause Vegas to crash when pressing the Down Arrow key when the Master bus fader has focus.

Hey Grazie, so da monsta kicks. Excellent. Just downloaded and installed both V4e and DVDA 1 something or other over V4d and DVDA something or other. No biggie. Just like before. It'll be V5a that I'll wait a bit before jumping in. Big update, maximum opps for "knicker-twisters." Lotta snow here in CO, goin' skiin' in the am. DGrob
