Vegas 4 just quits

For no reason that I can see, Vegas just up and quits on me. I've had it stop when hitting the spacebar for playback, while moving clips on the timeline, while accessing effects and more. Anyone else having this happpen? The biggest pain is that my pre-rendered files disappear and my pref settings get reset. This is starting to happen often, maybe a dozen times a day. This didn't happen in VV3, or VV2. Or any other SF program that I have. I haven't added anything between having VV3 and V4. As soon as I finish my current project I'm going to start a new one in VV3 to see if it happens there now also. I checked DirectX and that's okay. Version 8.1
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

What audio interface are you using? Are you using ASIO drivers to playback while editing?

I don't know about the asio drivers. I'm not at that computer right now. Could this cause something like this. I noticed on some reboots that the audio driver wasn't always loading. At one point today it never loaded, so I started a fresh install of win2000. i figured i must be having some driver problem. I'll finish tomorrow. I have V4 on two other computers and all is well there.

I had similar problems. I found that my hard drive was getting severely fragmented. I purchased Diskeeper and have not had a single problem since. Diskeeper is absolutely great. Just "set it and forget it".
