Vegas 4 - Tu update or not to update ?

sirbellog wrote on 3/13/2003, 1:29 AM
Hello,
As the deadline for the update offer is coming closer, and currently using Vegas 3 with no special problem, I wonder : is it really worth to update ?
I mean, do the ones who made it think that there are really enough valuable new features in the new version to justify the $150 entry ticket ?
Thanks for feedback, and opinions !

Hi Sir,

V4 is a total no-brainer... 150 bucks to make Vegas the killer NLE with most everything you could want, without spending x-thou.

I have to agree... but then, I upgraded from VV2, so just imagine how much more substantial of an upgrade it was for me...

I just received my "bagged" copy of V4 and came to this forum to see if I could install it & keep V3 running as well. My concern was with backward compatibillity, co-existance of v3/v4, as well as any other install issues.
I've been side tracked by all the rendering error posts & even an acknowledgment of an Mpeg render bug by Sofo.
I got V4 it to beat the $150 deadline as well as to keep current, however I'm wondering about even installing it 'til things shake out.

Can the two versions co-exist so my current v3 projects are not affected by a V4 install?

Should it be a standard operating procedure not to open old v3 projects in v4 and just begin new ones?

my V3 on Win2k runs great . . .

I asked SF about this on the phone around two weeks ago and they told me that I can leave VV3 installed when I install VV4. I just got my "bag" yesterday so I guess I'll find out soon enough.

Maybe I'll do one more project in VV3 first just in case.
