vegas 4 video effects editing

I am editing together a music video and I have run into a problem involving actually editing/manipulating the video effects that I am using. Normally, whenever I select a given video efx to apply to an event, a pop-up menu automatically comes up that allows me to affect change to that particular video effect that I just selected. For example, If i want to use the "cookie cutter" video effect, once I select it and put it on the event, I can immediately begin to edit that effect in terms of the x/y axis, the size, background color, etc....now all of a sudden, whenever I select a video efx to apply to an event, I do not get that normal pop-up menu which lets me edit the effect, instead, I get this grid-looking, blank box with greyed-out keyframes at the bottom ....my question/problem, is this....How do I get back to the menu pop-up that allows me to actually edit the given video efx that I have selected as soon as I place said efx on an event?...

I don't think there's a stock answer for this. Easiest thing to try, is to hold down both your Ctrl and Shift keys while starting Vegas up. This will return default windows. But your problem sounds unique. So if that doesn't work, you may also try "System restore" or give your main drive a thorough "Scandisc" (be sure to check "Correct Errors"). And lastly, wait for other replies, as this has never happened to me and maybe somebody else has had the same problem.

Do you have a shift key that's stuck? Try beating the shift keys on your keyboard.

Hi Cochise!

I don't have a reply for you but am writing to see if you ever solved your problem, and if so, how...as I have exactly the same problem, viz. no pop up box when I hit the FX icon on any event.

Many thanks for any guidance you may be able to give me!
