Vegas 5.0 Joystick support config (ini) files???

I was looking throught the manual for vegas and saw there is joystick support. It talks about joystick configuration files but no where does it say how to load one of these files. I own an AIRFLO controler and I see a config file for this joystick is included but how do I load the configuration? I've looked everywhere but the answer doesn't seem to be in any documentation.

I'll take a wild guess.
I don't have a joystick installed so I can't test it but did you "enable joystick" under preferences?

nope. I definately have that checked and the joystick is responding but the documentation says that it will be set to a default controler and that custom configuration files for four of the most common controllers are located in your program folder. I found them and it gives you documentation on how to tweak them and reprogram them but there doesn't seem to be anywhere in the program to actually choose your joystick and/or load the config file for that joystick.

And yes before anyone asks I have Options>External Control checked.

The only dialouge page in prefrences that accepts ini files is the keyboard shortcut page. I tried loading the joystick ini file into it and it does one of two things 1.Nothing 2.Crashes

I mean I know this program in and out. Unless someone else can point out what I'm missing I just think that sony did a half ass job implimenting this feature.

I believe others have been able to use joysticks to write automation for surround panning.
Bob.

well yea I can write automation. But I sincerly don't think that this joystick is mapped correctly. ANd I might want to remap it. It tells you how to program the ini file to remap it BUT where do you load the ini file????

Let me repeat. I just need to know where to load these configuration files nothing else

I have to guess again but in my folder there are the three standard joysticks.

In your folder there is the AIRFLO which you have configured in Windows under Game controllers right?

So Vegas probably loads it automatically.

You know you can tweak it with the ini file and that is probably what you have to do.

If you check help/index/joystick it gives some information. For example the three standard joysticks tells which buttons do what. Maybe you can sort it out that way.

Like I said, I can't test it because I don't have a joystick at the moment.

Ah h I think your right. It doesn't list AIRFLO in the manual so it must have automatically made the ini file. Damn I'm all tryin to fix a problem that doesn't exist. ANyway thanks alot I'm almost positive if you don't have an ini file called AIRFLO.ini that vegas recognizes and creates the file automatically. thanks again
