Vegas 5
PYRO A/V link Ver 3.3

I'm building a project in Vegas 5. I have a new ADS PYRO A/V connected to my computer via firewire. I have Vegas video device set to "OHIC Compliant IEEE 1394/DV, I have my project setting on NTSC DV.
I have rendered and saved this Vegas project to my hard. I have set the Dip Switched to NTSC on the ADS.
I have a blue light on the ADS but no Red. I do have a test screen pattern on my TV that goes out when I turn the ADS off. When I start Vegas and click play I can see the project on the preview window in Vegas. When I click on the Preview on external monitor Icon in the preview window nothing happens. Can you assist me in finding the problem?

I assume you can capture video through the same 1394 port?
What OS are you running?
Under XP Windoz should bong when you connect the device.

I can hook a VCR up through the ADS and capture video in Vegas through my firewire connection. Everything works except me being able to view on an external monitor.

I do have one of those that I don't use cause it don't work but I think that much of it did sorta work. Does the thing have any sort of switch to tell it that it should convert from 1394 to analogue like the ADVC 100/300s do? Sounds just like a direction problem.
What about trying PTT through it, will that work?
Try unplugging and pluggin in the 1394 connection to it, sometimes Windoz / Vegas needs a few kicks to wake up to 1394 devices. You should get a 'ding' from Windoz as the device comes and goes, if you don't get that then Windoz isn;t seeing it so Vegas will not be able to connect to it.

BTW ADS have a specific forum over at COW, their man there does try pretty hard to help.

I'm not sure why you're getting the problem but I can answer your "will they play" question.

I use an earlier version (3.0) and have no troubles viewing my NTSC timeline on an external monitor. The only problem I have run into is with PAL footage it plays it in black and white.

Dumb question but I gotta ask: You do realize that when you go from capture to ptt/preview, you must move the RCA connections from the inputs on the FRONT of the ADS to outputs on the BACK of the ADS. (unless, of course, you have both plugged in simultaneously) Just checkin’ for the obvious. Don’t mean to offend. I have the Rev 3.3 and it works great using it both ways.

Thanks for the input at this stage I feel nothing is foolish and thank you for your efforts. I only shared with this forum about the capture to help show my firewire is talking. I have hooked these ADS by the book. I simple can not get it to work. I think it is something so simple I will laugh when I find out unless I stroke out b 4 then. No local people can help me and I have paying customers for a product I cant edit b4 I burn it. Guess I should look at dumping Vegas and going with something else that will work. I feel so alone…lol
