Vegas 5 and Scripting (access to event-grouping)?

Hi all,

I heard rumours about a new Vegas 5, but didn't find any copies of the announcement yet. Probably it doesn't mention scripting features there anyway, as this is of no big public interest. Still, is anything known about what will change in the scripting API?

Particularely, do we finally get access to event grouping??? It is THE main problem in scripting and many people asked for this access many times already, so I think this would really be a must in a new version. If not, take this as "wishlist" for the new version.

Or do we even get something like a hierarchical grouping? this would of course be perfect... the flat structure of grouping we have now is ok, but not really appropriate for many tasks.

thanks, dust

As long as we’re adding “wish list” features here, I’ve had the following requests just in the last two days:

1. Scripting the minimize / restore of tracks (i.e., access to track height)
2 .Scripting of the Event Snap Offset.

It would also be nice to have a better script manager. Perhaps a popup list of your favorite scripts in addition to the Ctrl-1 to 0 shortcut for people who have more than 10 scripts that they use regularly. Also being able to categorize scripts in this list would be good so you could group your scripts by task (i.e., color correcting, multi-cam, etc).

Of course, Vegas 5 is what it is by now so perhaps this is a Vegas 6 wish list.

Yes, it's a bit late to come up with a wishlist.
But I'd add to it:
- setting trackmotion/fx keyframes
- get/set wether the timeline-selection is a looping area (blue in the interface)

Oh yea, TrackMotion is high on my list too. I wanted to script some Track Motion stuff the other day and I had to use Pan/Crop instead. Scripting TrackMotion would have been nicer.

Some of these may be possible in 5.0b... no promises... stuff happens ;-)
