Vegas 5 at IoV end of April?

. . .er . .do we Limeys get to see V5 at IoV end of April? . . I'm there anybody else . . DV Doctor Messages Robbie from IN-Deep is saying, "Just to let you know that we "hope" to have the very first showing of Vegas 5 in the UK at the IOV show on the 28th-29th of April " - Way to go Robbie! - Guess that is only a HOPE?

IMHO, at IOV:
2001 was the year of RT2000 / Silver
2002 was Pinnacle RealOne / Purple
2003 was RT.X 100 / Storm2

Big stand sponsorship is a commercial reality.

2004 being Sony Vegas would be fair. However IOV is more likely to be full of Edius / Liquid / Premiere Pro for NLEs. Vegas and NewTek's VT have been lucky to be mentioned in pricelists at previous IOVs. I'd wager that you'd have seen Vegas5 at Wembley if it were going to get an "around NAB" preview outsite North America.

The UK videographers seem mad on the £2k-£3k Casablanca and Kron turn key types of editors. Also Edirol products (Video Canvas 7) etc. Us Brits are a funny lot.

I hope their hopes come true. However the likelihood, with direct sales of Vegas, will be that there will be a public beta of Vegas5 available before NAB anyway. Just be sure to have your projects wrapped up before installing unfinished and limited works. Sonic Foundry got it right last time though without incident on VV3 projects continuing in VV3 with V4-preview installed.

The IOV exhibition is never a wasted journey (especially for me 15 miles from its venue). My lemonade income doesn't always suit that champagne lifestyle. Looking is for free though, nearly. Good to meet with other videographers/dealers too. I like a good rummage through Keene's connectors and interconnects and a few metal=particle tape stock bundles too.

Perhaps too early for DUAL=LAYER DVDR or next gen HDV cameras.
