I'm pretty sure you can upgrade from V4 to V5 with DVDA - click on the store link and there will be a web page telling you what upgrade paths are available. DVDA 2.0 is significantly better than DVDA 1.0 - however, there are still a number of issues and a few functional things missing that would be nice to have; still it's got some great features - you might want to check out the DVDA forum.

There are lots of DVD Authoring packages available, so it really depends on the functionality you want and how much money you have to spend. DVD Lab is a reasonable alternative (www.mediachance.com); it's inexpensive and contains lots of features (some of which still aren't found in DVDA 2.0).

You can upgrade at a discount price from Vegas 4 to Vegas5+DVD.

Vegas 5 has many more features than 4. It does some stuff differently, like track motion. Vegas 4 is more stable. Vegas 5 has a few quirks but no showstoppers.

You can have Vegas 4 and 5 on your PC at the same time. So if you wanted to, you could edit in Vegas 4 and burn DVDs in DVD Architect 2.

Sony Vegas Movie Studio supports DVD authoring, just not with a lot of depth. No AC3, no masks, none of the fancy stuff. But for the price, it CAN'T be beat. Smokin great application.

Something to keep in mind: Once you save your *.veg file as Vegas 5, you cannot go back and use it (the *.veg file) in Vegas 4.

One-way work flow on that...

Vegas 4 goes to Vegas 5 no problem.

Just FYI...

Has the offer on Vegas + DVD Architect which bundled Magic Bullet and Boris Graffiti ltd gone/expired/no longer avaliable? I checked the product page and it no longer lists them a insluded...

If they are no longer included, what other stuff is? (ie ala vision series, 1001 sound effects etc...) the product page on the suite seems lacking in info..

Can anyone confirm on this? I0ve been asked by someone who is looking into buying the suite but wants to know what exactly is included...

Thanks in advance,

Paul.

Magic Bullet and Boris Graffiti LTD are still listed under Bonus Software on the Vegas page.

Rob, thanks for that!

Funny how it's listed on the Vegas page, but not on the Vegas + dvd production suite page...
see here:

Confusing?

Thanks again,

Paul.

Depends on how you look at it.

I imagine the reasoning is that Vegas+DVD is Vegas plus DVD Architect. So anything that's included with Vegas should automatically be considered part of Vegas+DVD.

hmmm..true...

But the shopper might be in for a surprise (probably a good one at that!) If a newcomer has heard about vegas and DVDA, comes here having decided he was in for the suite, he doesn't get the whole list on the product page....It certainly fooled me: I was confirming the contents of the suite for another guy and it never ocurred to me to look in the Vegas page before going to the suite page - hence my original question...

Anyway,

Thanks for your time and help,

Paul.
