The Auto show is just wrapping up in Chicago... there was no mention of a new version of Vegas there which is as relative of Sony making an announcement for the National Association of Broadcasters. Well, maybe at the national hardware show or maybe at the national dog show or the next AFLCIO convention.

I'm trying to bring a friend who works at a recording studio and is working towards an audio engineering degree. I'm trying to convince her that she should look at Vegas in addition to pro-tools, but I don't have the audio chops to really show off Vegas.
I think I'm only going to the Monday event, is there a student discount or anything? I think it's going to be hard to convince her to pay $50 for a session for software she doesn't use and is essentially just checking out. Perhaps I'll see if her boss will reimburse her.

Monday night is a freebie, B&H already "bought" the discount down to the $50.00. She'll get a lot out of it for the cost. She'll also get a good view of the audio tools in Vegas, cuz even though the day isn't "about" Vegas, the editing tricks I'll show are all done in Vegas.
Looking forward to catching up w/you. The NYC Vegas Users Group seems like a pretty great bunch of folks.

You just need to be extemely farsighted and wildly optimistic. In this case, Dgates is way ahead of the game by getting the beta testing done long before anyone in madison writes a single line of code for Vegas 9.

Dgates, is yours the 128-bit copt or the 256-bit copy? I've been working on the 128 with a 8-CPU AMD Quintlon 128-bit chip setup, but I keep getting the "vreality.sys corrupted, boot with rlife.sys" error. :(

Sorry to hear you guys are still in Beta for 9.0. EPM just contacted me about testing 10.1 (don't know why you're still back in the stonage with your AMD Quintlon 8-CPU processor. Maybe that's why they haven't given you the newest beta to test ;).
OHHHH NOW I'VE GONE AND DONE IT!!! - Alright sorry to say this guys but I wasn't supposed to say anything about the beta testing, so... I'm afraid that since you've read this I'm gonna have to kill you as per my contracts with Sony ;) Sorry guys.

Between beta testing V9 & id software's new engine that is completely life like, I just didn't have time to downloda the 10.1 beta & upgrade my CPU's.

Besides that, 30TB's only takes you so far. :( Time for self birthday gift!

I hear ya HF, that's why I told sony that I could only do so much with it and they might not get too much from me. But they just wanted me soo bad that I decided to go ahead with it. Who knew they were gonna go for full 3D modeling as well (Sure is becoming quite the uber app NLE - Glad I got in on 5 when it was still just a few hundred)

I surely wish you or someone else would do something about the Yak ass** that have been showing up in this forum lately. We're up to our knees in Yak crap lately. It makes me wanna yak. Or is 'hurl' the appropriate phrase these days?

I'm waiting to upgrade from 4 to V6+DVD2 (3?). I want the previous owner upgrade price of $199. :) that's for my retail version though. I get beta's ASAP. :D

Sony Pictures would be foolish to sell the Vegas Support Forums because there is too much good material in here for its sitcom and sci-fi production operations.

Perhaps the best news is that Sony has decided to rename Vegas Movie Studio to prevent confusion.
Upon the release of Vegas 6 ,Movie Studio will be renamed Reno.
and the support forum will be labeled Reno 911.
