Vegas 6.0 will NOT uninstall

Since I had a spyware/virus scare, I cannot open my Vegas 6.0, it say's things are not properly installed, and that I should reinstall. I go to control panel, add/remove programs, and click the Vegas, but all I get is "Invalid Drive: F: /" It will NOT uninstall

I cannot reinstall with my disc because the Vegas on my computer must be uninstalled.

I fear the virus could have permantly damaged my Vegas, but maybe it didn't. I test other software discs and they are fine.

I am considering maybe I should upgrade to Plantinum Vegas. But I'm afraid I won't be able to if it's cause of this issue. Would it be more worth it, or is there a solution to this?

Honestly, re-install Windows. Install all updates. Install an anti-virus AND anti-spyware software (e.g. the freeware AVG and Microsoft's anti-spyware tool and lavasoft's Ad-Aware). Don't run shady or pirated software, don't open email attachments from people you don't know or don't expect attachments from. Move to Firefox as a web browser and install its "NoScript" extension which disables javascript and plugins for sites you don't go often and trust (you allow them on per-site basis -- it's some work at first, but it pays back with security).

This kind of setup and logic has kept me virus-free for 15 years.

Reinstalling windows will help me uninstall Sony Vegas? How do I do it?

When you re-install Windows anew, then there will be no Vegas in there. There will be nothing of your old apps and data. So make sure you backup your personal data and emails and pics before you, and if, re-install.

Holy Cow, is there any other way? It would take forever to remove everything I have to put o dozens of discs, and forever to put it all back on. That I will not do. There must be another alternative. What if I open the Sony Folder viewing them as icons, and just delete everything? Would that get it off my computer?

By an external usb harddisk (say 100 dollars) and copy your personal documents to it, or even cheaper: an usb stick.
Then do the Eugenia-procedure. ;-)

> Invalid Drive: F:/

This error usually means that someone or something has changed the drive letter allocations between the time you installed the software and the time you are trying to uninstall it. At the time the software was installed you had a drive F: and now you don't. When the uninstaller tries to access drive F: in order to do its work it finds that it doesn't exist and stops at that point with an error.

Frequently, just making sure that there is a drive F: on the system will be enough to get the uninstaller to work OK. You could try temporarily changing your CD-ROM drive to be drive F: for example. You can change it back once the uninstallation has completed OK.

You can see the relevant InstallShield FAQ item here.

I've check all in the REgistry Editor. They have correct C:\ beside almost all of them. Although some things don't have that at the beginning of the data, like %ALLUSERSPROFILE% ETC. But is it necessary to type in C:\ before those?
