Vegas 6 and crashes

Hi everybody.
I have installed one week ago my new Vegas 6 and all was ok untill yesterday: I completed a project and wanted to render it to an avi file, but.... first happened that Vegas colosed while rendering!!?? , than, after 3 or 4 times, I reinstalled the program and restart the rendering, but when it was on 99% (1,5 hours) the computer was like freezing: nothing moving anymore!! Had to restart the PC manually and try again, but this is still happening (sometimes near the end of the process, sometimes at 50% and so on)!!!
Anyone has some suggestions to make this Vegas 6 work better? Maybe some PC settings...or anything else! I am really affraid because I have to give a DVD tomorrow and I am in big troubles!!!!
Thank you!

Raf

Please post your system specs, and also, what .avi resolution and codec are you rendering to?

I have had the same problems. Not sure what to do. I will be watching this thread carefully. Good luck.

I have a friend who bought the upgrade (5 to 6), and is having similar problems. Renders freeze up after hours of work, and the PC has to be restarted. Didn't happen with V5. Now he hates Vegas 6 and just uses version 5! ;-D I told him to ask for a refund.

(before anyone says it's a heat issue, I built the system and it doesn't have heat issues)

Since I use Vegas on an irregular basis (But I really need it when I use it), I'm not sure about any of this.... But:

When I start Vegas 6, everything works well (There are some strange, but minro bugs, but I'll need more time to figure out just what's happening). I'll finish my job (Usually just a short :30 second V/O audition with some sample video, or something.) in under a half-hour, shut Vegas down, and move on to something else. After about an hour-and-a-half, it seems, my machine either freezes, or reboots. Doesn't seem to matter which ap I'm using, it has been MS Word, Adobe Audition, or Internet Explorer, and Vegas 6. This has happened about 5 times so far, and I don't think I've had a crash/shutdown when I haven't used Vegas 6 first. This wasn't happening with Vegas 5.

I'll get my stats up this weekend or early next week, when I'm not quite so busy. Also, I'm not really sure about any of this, it could just be some sort of coincidence.

FWIW

Yeah, I wouldn't mind a refund. I feel kinda like an ass for blindly buying the upgrade when 5 was working so well for me. I have read about some problems with uninstalling 6, so I feel trapped. I wonder if anyone will post possible solutions on this thread, or if Sony has a fix/update in the works. It looks like I am not the only one having problems.
