Vegas 6 and Windows Media Center Edition?

I did a search first but didn't find any definitive answer in regards to running Vegas 6 on a Media Center Edition computer.

I have the opportunity to pick up a dual core 3.0 ghz Sony desktop for really cheap but it has Media Center Edition installed.

Is there any known issues- if so any work arounds? What is different about this OS other than the bells and whistles associated with hooking up a tv input? Does it still run on the XP (NT) kernal? etc?

Thanks in advance.

I have Vegas 5 on my new laptop with Media Center. No problems, nor would I expect any.

Near as I can tell the MC version is pretty close to XP Pro with a bunch of totally useless PVR software bolted on. The XP Media Center software is totally pathetic. Amazing, given how much great PVR software has been developed.

Anyway, I'd be amazed if you have any problems with V6 on this O/S. Go for it!

Excellent thanks guys. That's what I thought- I heard "issues" but no one ever discussed what they were- they were all "I heard this" ...."I heard that..."

Now- I'm currently running a P4 3.0ghz with 1 gig PC3200 ram

The new machine will be a Sony VGC-RC110G with a Pentium D 830 (3.0ghz Dual Core) and 1 gig of PC 4200 ram

What kind of performance increases should I see going from a Single HT 3.0 ghz to a Dual Core 3.0ghz?

I'm running Vegas 6 +DVD on a Gateway 832GM, 3.0 P4 630HT, 1g ram.with Media Center Edition installed. Only been running it for a week, no issues so far, other than I agree That MC edition is a worthless and totally lame addition to XP. If I had it to do over again there is no way I would buy a Media Center PC. If I ever do run into issues with it I am going to back everything up, wipe or replace the Drive and install XP home or pro and rip the TV tuner out of the box, I don't use it anyway. Hope this helps, I don't know what kind of performace improvement you will get with the dual core. No doubt as these dual core replace the single core, issues will arise, get worked out and all be for the better. I'm just not sure if the transition will be seamless. Same for 64 bit programs. We have a lot to look forward to but it turns some of todays purchases into difficult decisions.
