Vegas 6 feature..rumored

I have a nice contact within Nero who mentioned tonight that Sony has potentially licensed Nero/Atemes Mpeg-4 ASP and H.264 AVC technologies to be used as an output option in Vegas 6 and to start prepping for HD-DVD/Blu Ray delivery. I pressed for more information from him but thats all I was given.

Now, I am treating this as a rumor until someone higher up confirms it. Having said that, if true, then major props to Sony for being the first NLE to incoporate this technology. Word has it that Adobe is trying to license Quicktime 7.0 with H.264 encoding for Premiere Pro 2.0 that is due this summer. Definte advantage to Sony as the results I have seen thus far from Apples offerings leave a lot to be desired among quality and speed compared with Nero's.

This next month is going to be the longest month ever.

"Now, I am treating this as a rumor..."
Clarification... you are spreading the rumour.

Agreed but I received this from what has proven to be a reliable source over the years.

Potentially licensed meaning that he was unsure if the deal was complete right now but was convinced it would be completed and incorporated for the Vegas 6 release.

While I may be helping to spread the rumor, there are many here that will be greatly interested in H.264 AVC encoding from the Vegas timeline.

Those that are testing the new releases are under a nondisclosure
and can't say yah or nay (not to say anyone is testing prereleases)
so we just have to wait.
