I'm thinking about getting this how to book. I don't want to make a pest of myself on the forum. Is anyone familiar with this book? Does it include a section on DVDA?
According to what I read on amazon.com, this book appears to be about the big brother, Vegas, not Vegas Movie Studio. So, while there are similarities between the two products you may find that the book talks about features not available to you. There also doesn't seem to be any discussion about DVDAS in the book.
It's not terribly appropriate for me to comment on Sahlin's book, as I'm the author of several competing books. Sahlin is a very good writer in the Adobe field, his book on Adobe Encore is much better than my book on the same subject. That's likely because he's an Adobe user much more than a Vegas user. And this reflects, IMO, in the Vegas 6 revealed book, which is accurate in most areas, but missing key workflow components that only a very experienced user of the app will know of and discover. He misses the finer points of the workflow, IMO, and doesn't go into HDV, and doesn't go into the creative elements of Vegas very deeply. As a guide to rudimentary functions, it's a very good book.
Overall, this forum is the first-best resource for information, and no one here is considered a "pest" unless they become obnoxious. There are also a lot of Vegas resources out there that are very creative-oriented, including downloadable files.
I saw the book you are inquiring about at the local book store when they first put it on the shelf and quickly looked thru it. It didn't take much of a look to determine that this did not have much to offer me for the money. I plan on upgrading to the full version of Vegas soon from my ver 3 but wanted to get a handle on the new features in ver 6. When I saw the VEGAS 6 EDITING WORKSHOP book at another bookstore and looked thru it, I immediately purchased it with no regrets. DSE did a great job on it and has a lot more info in it vs the other one. Just my opinion and feel free to disagree.

What happened is that one morning I just had a few minutes to kill. I ducked into a Borders and looked for any book on Vegas or related software. There was nothing on the self. I asked a clerk if he had any listings for Vegas books. That was the only one that came up. I did look it up on Amazon later. There were several reviews. The general agreement that it was good on the basics. Curiously though it is about US$10 cheaper on Amazon than in Borders. I haven't looked through the Manual much. I just like to have the paper in my hands. That is if there is going to be a substantial amount of reading.
