Vegas 6 unable to open AVI file

I have used the demo version of Vegas 6 to capture DV files through my Canopus ACEDV card and everything went fine. Now I am trying to import an existing AVI file and am having trouble. Vegas doesn't recognize the file as having any video. Vegas shows "Video: Stream attributes could not be determined." Windows Media Player plays the file and shows the file to be a 20 sec, 64kb/s stream. Any idea why Vegas can't play the file?

Thanks,
Steve

Is it a DivX avi file?

You maybe need the Canopus software dv codec to be able to decompress the files.

use gspot to tell us the type of file it is - otherwise it's a crap shoot on why it does'nt open ...

Thanks for the quick replies!

GSpot shows:
- Video codec: mjpg
- frames: 200
- kbps 1189
- Qf: 1.548
- Pics/sec: 10
- Frame: 320x240
- FAR: 1.333 PAR: 1.00

I know this is a very low-res video, but it's all that's left of a short video of a protoype robot and we would like to post it on our web site.

Again, thanks for your help,
Steve
