vegas 6 won't open .swf

I can get vegas to open up .swf files made from swishmax but it won't open up some cool royalty free .swf files that I got from the internet. I also downloaded some programs that make .swf files and it won't open those .swf files either. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong? Can vegas only open certain types of .swf and if so, how do I know what types?

If they are flash 5 compatible files, Vegas won't be able to open them. If they've got audio embedded, Vegas likely can't open them.
Anything that is Flash 4 compatible should open fine. I regularly use Swish and Coffeecup to create swf files for Vegas, but these apps don't support Flash 5.

Thanks, is it possible to convert flash 5 to flash 4? I tried in shishmax but it didn't really work.

That one, I can't answer. My flash skills are very basic, but I'm sure someone here can answer. We've got a few flash experts here. Sorry I can't help more with this one.

use 'Sothink SWF Decompiler MX 2005' or some other swf to avi Decompiler ..

several are free - though i dont know if they support swf 5 .. 'swf >> avi Converter'

I tried a bunch of the free ones and they either don't support the latest versions of flash or they don't convert to avi. I did find one that works great called adshareit, but it's $150 for the pro version and $50 for the lite version (The lite version is all you need to convert to .avi).

Thanks for the help
