Vegas 7 I lost use of my plug-ins!?

I am working on the assumption this is operator error.

I went to use a plug-in last night and it didn't have any effect on the preview!?

ex. I chose blk & wht, apply, box is checked, crank the adjustment and nothing happens.

I used it the other night and it was fine. What am I doing wrong?

Click the button above the preview window that's a circle that's half light and half dark. You probably turned that on by accident and it's set to "Bypass Effects" (which you can see if you click the little down arrow beside it).

Do a search here and you'll see this exact same question has been asked MANY times.
