Or because V7 is not an update, it's a new version. :O)

Well, version 6 was a new version, as was 5, etc., yet people got an e-mail about them and special pricing.

As for it not being out yet, doesn't advertising normally alert you to a new product *before* it's out? You know, so you can plan your finances and not blow the money on something else? Do movies only start advertising on the day they open? Why have a preference setting for "Send me Sony Media Software announcements and special promotions" and then not use it?

Yes, obviously I know that 7 is coming out, so I don't need the mail for that (though some people might), but in the past that e-mail has mentioned a special price, and one that was different than what you'd see if you just browsed the site.

i mena i've never gotten an e-mail about vegas upgrades. i've gotten acid & soundforge, but never vegas. also, for some reason, i get three catalogs every time they mail them out. i've sent support (or customer service, whomever) telling them i only need one but i still get three. :)
