Good questions, all.

I know that you can BUY extra software like VASST or Ultimate to do what I want, but I think that Vegas should be able to do this:

I am busy with a 50-60 clip project where I had to "Right Click > Properties > un-check Aspect ratio > Apply" to every clip individualy.

I would like to be able to "CTL-A" all clips and do it once.

Did you try this?

1. Set the first clip the way you want it (uncheck aspect ratio). Right click and "Copy" this clip.
2. Unselect that clip; select the 2nd clip. Choose the menu item for "Select items to end" (in effect, you are selecting all clips except the first one)
3. Right click and "Paste Event Attributes"

<edit> For step 2 you could alternately Ctrl-A to select all clips, then Ctrl-click to unselect the first clip.

pretty sure there is a script out there , seems like it was mentioned on this forum a week or so ago

The problem with pasting attributes is that it pastes everything including fx, keyframes, so on and so forth.

You need to create a dummy event with only the attributes you want to copy and paste from.

I hope I remember that trick when I finally need to use the Paste Attributes again. (hardly ever)

Meanwhile...Where is 8.0c? I'm still waiting to install my version of Vegas 8 and have been waiting since last October.
John_Cline wrote on 8/19/2008, 3:45 PM
Go ahead and install it already! I use v8.0b all day, every day and I haven't had any problems with it.

Thanks for the sage advice, John....

No seriously, I have an extremely slow connection and I don't want to download that twice more. I only got v8.0a when I bought it. I'll wait. They're 2 months behind and I see others expecting v9 soon. I'm not doing HDV, so I can wait. But come on, already.

Take or borrow a notebook, go to a place with a decent WiFi connection, go to a friend's house with cable/DSL and download it! Low bandwidth seems like a false reason.

I just bought the Vegas 8 upgrade from B&H. I remember hearing 8b was a bit quirky. Should I just leave it alone until 8c comes out?

No need to even go that far. With USB "keys" so cheap these days, no one should be without one in their tool kit. Then all you need is find a pc with good broadband access.

I used to download 650MB .iso files on dialup and it didn't take an inordinate amount of time, maybe 20 hours or so.

Now that i have 4Mbps coming in to the house i often do downloads for friends and burn them to CD for them. I can download Vegas & DVDA and burn them to a CD in less than 20 minutes.

I had a 24,000bps dialup connection for years. Downloaded ~1gb a month on that. 200mb vegas update is chump change. :) Use something like Free Download Manager & download while sleeping. Won't effect renders! :D

My ISP automatically gives a warning (without sound) every 4 hours plus an un-exact amount of minutes, that it will shut down in 45 seconds unless I click Cancel. If I happen to be in the bathroom, asleep or doing anything that I just happen to miss that.... You start over. I've successfully set alarm clocks every 4 hours quite often, but I've also had to start long downloads over again quite often too. I have the same problem uploading to YouTube too. I don't really need v8 at all, except that's all everybody is talking about and I might understand the conversations here, better.
Now before you tell me to get another ISP, all I want is some kind of a hint from Sony on how the progress is on 8.0c and when we might expect it. We have been waiting for a long, long time. And they've had versions 'd' and 'e' follow 'c' before. But it seems like they're doing versions 'c', 'd', and 'e' all at the same time. I only waited because of all the complaining of how bad everything was with versions 'a' and 'b', especially 'a', now you're defending it. Plus, I thought I'd have at least a cheap HDV camera, but for some strange reason, I'm broker than ever
I can wait until Xmas morning, some can't. But I don't want to wait for the Sun to nova. Give us 'c', then work on 'd'. You know, the usual routine.
When did version 'b' come out?

Ahem......back to the original topic, although this is also OT but mentioned in this same post.

[i]Winrock said "seems like it was mentioned on this forum a week or so ago" [/b]

Yes, you are right but I never got a solution. But this is what I found out thru trial and error.

If you do what DaveMcKnight says, it works. Also what Bastinado say's also happens.

Now if you go back to your 1st clip and reset Aspect Ratio and remove Pan/crop events and remove any FX's then click "copy". Then select all clips except 1st clip. Then "Paste Event Attributes" it pastes over Aspect ratio and pan/crop but not FX's. The FX's remain intact which I suppose could be useful.

Just thought you'd like to know about this undocumented feature.

Thanks everyone for your input, I've really learnt a lot here.

Craig

Is there any new information on the 8c release, or a possible date?

Or is now expected to go straight to a Pro9 upgrade path?

Thanks

SCS previously used IBC Europe as an announcement/release date for a Vegas upgrade. The next IBC is Sept 12-16 in Amsterdam.
