more info would be helpful, such as what sort of files are on your timeline - your system details, etc.

As far as I know... both 7e and the original 8 have crashing problems with HD, so if you are using these then you need to update. But 7d and 8a should be pretty rock solid and I would say if you're crashing with these then there is something unique to your machine and/or your time line that is causing the problems.

More info needed..... which OS are you using?

And where did you get a user name like "Vegas craziness?" One hopes this post is not a special service for a competitor.

I'm having a lot of problems getting my current 1080i 24P project rendered. After mucking with it for days with no success getting it rendered I am "guessing" that it had to do with the fact that I did not have "quantize to frames" selected when I started editing. As a result some of the events are shifted a half-frame or so off and it usually hangs up around one of these events.

However, I was able to render it out to a Cineform AVI intermediate and then re-render that to M2T for a PTT successfully. It really is frustrating though.

Hi all thanks for the replies.
I am using a 2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40 GHz , Win XP Pro SP 2, GeForce 8600 Video
Files on external Hard drives all separate. Rendering to a whole separate drive as well.
Vegas 8a what I did the project on. I am able to view it and work on the cuts but when it comes to the render. Crash and burn.
The name comes from what this is doing to my brain..lol
Thanks for the help.

How much RAM do you have, and do you know how much of it is used up after loading your project?
Vegas craziness wrote on 10/26/2007, 2:35 PM
RAM is 4 gig. I will have to see what it is after load.
Vegas craziness wrote on 10/26/2007, 3:15 PM
Says I have almost 3 gig of RAM available.
When I go to render the CPU blasts up to 100% with 2 gig of RAM still.
CorTed wrote on 10/26/2007, 3:42 PM
Sounds like you should have enough available RAM to do the job. The fact that the Q6600 is running at 100% is actually what it supposed to do, but you may want to throttle the threads back down to 2, then try changing your Dynamic RAM preview to a lower number I think it defaults to 128, try 0 then 16
Do you have a stock fan on your Q6600 ?? If so be sure to have enough cool air running through the computer case, as the processor will be running pretty hot when utlilized at 100%

Do you think I should up my CPU to a quad?
CorTed wrote on 10/26/2007, 4:41 PM
Sorry, no I thought you were running a Q6600 (which is a quad)
I think a 6600 is a duo processor.

Are you crashing in the same place all the time or does it appear to be random... or crashing as you hit the "go" button so to speak?
Vegas craziness wrote on 10/26/2007, 8:17 PM
Yes I am running a Duo. The crashes vary. I have tried everything under the sun to get the project I am doing done. Render in small bits. Large chunks. Starting at the end. LOL Nothing is working. So frustrating.
