I'd suggest that, when you have more time, you describe what problems you were having with Vegas 6. There's really not much in your post that would help us identify why your experience with Vegas 6 didn't got well; how to improve it; or whether or not Vegas 8 would experience the same problems or not.

as far as you guys know will the new vegas run decent on it

Can't be answered since we don't know anything about your computer other than a) it's an HP, and b) it has a 20" screen. Although, if it's capable of running Vista then, yeah, I'm guessing it should run Vegas 8 just fine.

But if you describe the problems you're having with Vegas 6, I suspect someone will be able to help you with that, and you might not even need Vegas 8.

Hi All ,
I got back last night and started step by step posting to you
what I did and thaught of a few more things and I decided this machine is going back what do I have to really lose -(After all my goel is to try and figure out how to run my 6 on vista as i can't really afford to get the new 8 yet if i don't absolutely have to- )so I saved some important stuff to usb drive and did a system recovery to absolutely get rid of all the installes and registery changes from the cleanings -
So it came back to life and with no internet accsess or any updates I went ahead and installed again -it was succesfull in the install and Again i threw in a few pictures and a mp3 and rendered as mpeg 2-
it worked now here is my problem-
All prgrams that play mpeg win. media center -the media player vaio
thing none of the have a picture anymore -so I am not very smart when it comes to tech but is this the decoders and is there a work around it-
I feel so much closer-but ........so far away
Anybody out there have this problem ?
Any help would be great-
OH some details -
This machine runs on core duo -I think it is the T7200 processor -
2 GHZ with 3 gigs ram a nvidia 8400card -
vista premium 32 bit-
The new machine will have
core duo T7500 processor- 4 gigs ram and runs at 2.2 GHZ
and comes with a ATI HD 2600 card -
it has a built in tv tuner -(Does that matter?)
windows ultimate so thats 64 bit operating system I wonder if that will bring more problems to the table -
Well thats all I can think of to tell you any Ideas ?

After all my goel is to try and figure out how to run my 6 on vista

Okay, I had a brain freeze earlier, 'cause this should have occurred to me: But officially, no version of Vegas before 8 is supported on Vista. Meaning it might work, but don't count on it. If, however, you got it installed and running without crashes, then you're probably good to go. If your main issues have been with playing the output successfully, then that's probably some other issue altogether rather than Vegas-specific.

none of the have a picture anymore -so I am not very smart when it comes to tech but is this the decoders and is there a work around it

With previous versions of Windows, you had to install a DVD player application (such as PowerDVD or Roxio DVDMAX) in order to watch MPEG2 files because the application added the MPEG2 decoder. I have not yet joined the world of Vista, and I don't know its situation in this regard, sorry.

i can't really afford to get the new 8 yet if i don't absolutely have to

How much can you afford? 'Cause if you're a registered Vegas 6 user, you can upgrade to Vegas 8 for $99 at bhphoto.com. Again, assuming you even need to go that route.
