Vegas 9 & Boris FX

In Vegas 8, if you call up a Boris FX preset and then open it, you can tweak it from the preset values. I'm finding that in Vegas 9, although the preset initially looks correct, when you open Boris FX up to tweak it, it will go back to some sort of default value rather than the preset's settings. Looks like a bug to me, but maybe someone can confirm what I'm seeing before I report it.

Does Boris FX even give you the option to install into Vegas Pro 9.0? or have you copied the plug-in over yourself in hopes that it will work? I'm having trouble getting Boris RED to work in Vista 64 and when I contacted them they said that they don't support Vista 64 (this is stand-alone) so you may be on "thin-ice" using it in a host it wasn't tested on which means you can't report is as a bug.

There is no install routine yet for Boris FX and Vegas 9 so I had to copy files manually into the appropriate directory. I am talking about the 32 bit version of Vegas 9 rather than the 64 bit version.

Lately I've been working on teleprompter and greenscreen type projects and Boris FX does a really nice job of chroma keying out my portable backdrop whereas the Vegas chroma key filter isn't even close to being good enough.

My workflow is to call up a Boris FX chroma key filter preset from within Vegas and tweak it for the individual clip that I'm working with. when I call up the Boris FX preset, it looks like it should: close and just in need of a little final tweaking. When I go to tweak it, the Boris FX filter goes back to default mode as soon as I open it. I don't know if this is a Boris problem or a Vegas problem.

Since this is the bulk of what I am doing lately, I can't actually use Vegas 9 yet. I do have high hopes for it a revision or two down the line though.

All I did for Boris RED is re-run the latest update and it saw VP9 and also installed it there.
It went through its routing of confirming where to install for all apps that use it and VP9 was on the list.

After install... all seems well. No need to re-enter the serial or anything. Took all of 5mins.
Maybe it's the same for Boris FX?

Boris RED seems to be remembering my settings when I go back in.
I hope your Boris FX starts to act right. I know the frustration of your process as I work on a lot of these similar projects.

I tried that but the latest Boris FX update install only has check boxes for versions up to 8.

What happens if you select VP8 in the check box then 'Browse' to the VP9 Plugins folder?
Theoretically it should then install to the VP9 folder.

or maybe there will soon be an update that will simply give this option and already have the VP9 default folder location there and ready.

I don't know of any Prefs that would allow you to select another folder as a Plugins folder like the VST... Default & Alternative.
