Vegas 9 not recognising MXF files

System is Vista 64 running Vegas Pro 9 64.

I put together a short project comprising a wedding ceremony using 2 MXF files on the timeline, rendered it and saved the project.

I then wanted to put the footage on a web page as Flash to downloaded Swish Video3 and also downloaded a codec to allow SV3 to output as Flash 8.

When I then reopened the original project in Vegas it displayed a message that there was an error opening the 2 MXF files. Digging further, it wouldn't allow me to place ANY MXF files on the timeline - just got a 'no-entry/forbidden' icon.

I uninstalled Vegas and reinstalled it and all is good again. Has anyone else seen this - could installing a codec really cause this kind of problem?

Thanks.
Ian

My experience has been that most NLE programs encounter conflcts when more than one codec is installed.
In a post house I worked for a couple years ago, we had the Sphere codec and Final Cut Pro HD codecs, both in one machine and it was a wreck all the time.
Took out the old Sphere codec and it was fine. Since we had 3 systems running on two different codecs, it was a continual problem of incompatible file types going thru the Graphics station.

Good luck.

What format MXF video is it?

Raylight won't work in 64bit Vegas yet.
