Vegas 9 Pro Upgrade Preorder

Greenlaw wrote on 4/20/2009, 2:13 PM
Hi,

I took advantage of the Vegas Pro 9 upgrade preorder a couple of hours ago, but I never got an email confirmation. I was wondering if this was the same for everybody else who ordered it, or if somehow my order simply didn't go through. I don't see the order listed in the 'My Orders' section in my account either.

Thanks in advance for any helpful info.

I just ordered as well and got the same result. I contacted Sony support and they confirmed and gave me an order number.

Also got no e-mail so far - guess the guys are pretty busy today - so let us give them a little time to sort out things.
I got an order number that I saved - because - you never know :-))

Obviously also the price is teasing them a little - I paid 234.95 US for the download version plus our countrys VAT - I guess the 50 US early ordering rebate is included in that - but will find out in a couple of days :-)

you are supposed to get the email when the card is charged - which is May 11th when it ships.

Thanks for the info!

I figured that my card wouldn't be charged until the order went out next month, but not getting email acknowledgment that the order was even placed was a little strange, and made me wonder if I actually clicked the last button. Now I'm pretty sure I did. :)

I finally got an e-mail confirmation from Sony! Even better, the final price was less than what I thought I was paying. :)

I'm really looking forward to this upgrade.

Just to clarify, we're not sending email receipts on pre-orders. We're holding the email receipt until the order is actually processed and your card is charged. That will happen sometime around May 11.

In the first few hours that pre-ordering was available, we had a problem with our $50 off promo that caused some upgraders to be overcharged. Only people who were originally overcharged (like Greenlaw) will have received an email today about a price adjustment.

We've adjusted the price of all orders that had that problem, and once we process the order you will get an email receipt reflecting the correct price.

I hope that helps clarify.

With the discount, what is the actual price of Vegas v9 when upgrading from v8? My final checkout price was $234.
dibbkd wrote on 4/22/2009, 3:30 PM
It should have been $184.
TheHappyFriar wrote on 4/22/2009, 3:35 PM
so only $34 above last year's price, plus you get the extra stuff.

I'm leaning towards the Sound Forge Audio Studio, I don't have any audio software now and don't think I'd use the other choices.

"It should have been $184."

That's what I thought, but I haven't yet received an e-mail from Sony saying that the price I will be charged on May 11th has been adjusted.

I caved and purchased the upgrade - a wild moment of financial abandon.

My final price was $199 for the packaged version. Ok, I was happy with that. I just hope it is not $149 two days after the May 11th release date...

And you're a better man for it! :)

When I went to order, in English pounds, the order said the TOTAL to pay was £131. But that suddenly jumped to £152, so clearly £131 was NOT the TOTAL.

£152 is too high for me, sadly (£131 was pushing the limits). It's on the verge of being identical to the educational pricing I receive for the Adobe Creative Suite. Considering that the new features are not must-haves, I feel that this time around I won't be able to support Sony's efforts.

If business were doing better, if my savings actually earned interest, if my bills weren't rising so steeply, then perhaps I would be able to dig a little deeper into my pockets to help support what is undoubtedly the best NLE available.

Maybe with Vegas Pro 10.

Rob,

Thanks! And to put things back on topic, it was cut on Vegas, of course. :)

I got my price correction e-mail from SCS this morning. Everything is right with the world.

I am very open to being called dense for not understanding what may be obvious to others, but...

Is this how the upgrade choices work, for downloaded copies?

Upgrade before May 11th: $189 and upgrade includes one of 3 freebies (effects, audio studio or sound effects)

Upgrade after May 11th: $239 and does not include one of the freebies

Upgrade price of $239 stays in effect until further notice, well beyond May 11th?

I know things may change with v9, but can any veterans comment that the above is at least typical of past releases?

My preorder notice said that the entire deal was good until June 30th.

Thanks for that... found the preorder email in my junk filter...

I had understood the $50 off and free item to be an enticement to order ahead of the May 11th release, but looks like the offer goes well beyond that date... upgrades must simply increase in price after that time...
rmack350 wrote on 4/27/2009, 6:52 PM
I think the idea of the preorder was to get a little buzz going in conjunction with showing 9.0 at NAB. They aren't going to charge anyone's card until 9 actually releases.

The deal will be the same all the way to June 30th, as far as I know.

Which Giants, btw? SF? Tokyo?
