Vegas 9 Version ???

I have been reading on the boards and stuff but am unable to determine if Vegas 9 has two seperate installers for 32 bit and 64 bit. I am making the leap to 64 bit and am interested in Vegas 9 (using 8c now). If I buy the upgrade download, do I choose? Or is Vegas 9 32 bit only, but runs better than 8 in 64 bit environment?

Yes, there are two separate installers. Vegas Pro 9.0 has one price and two downloads; one for the 32-bit version and one for the 64-bit version. You can download and install either or both (and I recommend that you do install both because a lot of plug-ins are still 32-bit and will not work in the 64-bit version). Obviously, you need to be running Vista 64 to install and use the 64-bit version.

One more question. I will be installing Vista 64 bit to a fresh hard drive (then going to Windows 7). The upgrade installer is the full program, correct? I do not have to install 8 first and then 9?

And thanks for the quick response jr.

Well, no you don't have to be using Vista 64 bit... I've never used it and I've been running Vegas x64 just fine.

I am going to Vista 64 bit to utilize more RAM and get on the Windows 7 64 bit bandwagon. I am just wondering after I install Vista 64 bit to a brand new hard drive whether I will need to install Vegas 8 before upgrading to Vegas 9?

Windows 7 and Vista are not the same. You understand this right?

And no, you do not need to install Vegas 8 first.

Unless you mean you've been using 64-bit versions of the 7 or XP, a 64bit OS is REQUIRED for Vegas x64. And the only one currently supported is Vista x64.

AMD TR 2990WX CPU | MSI X399 CARBON AC | 64GB RAM@XMP2933  | 2x RTX 2080Ti GPU | 4x 3TB WD Black RAID0 media drive | 3x 1TB NVMe RAID0 cache drive | SSD SATA system drive | AX1600i PSU | Decklink 12G Extreme | Samsung UHD reference monitor (calibrated)

Yes I know that Vista and 7 are not the same. I am running Vista 32 bit right now. I want to move to 64 bit. To get there, I am installing Vista 64 bit on a new hard drive, and then when 7 is available, I am upgrading to it. I just wanted to get to 64 bit before the Oct release of Windows 7. I have more time to futz with my computer now rather than Oct, beings as I have to do a clean install of the OS and my programs. My ultimate goal is to not drop a load of cash on a new computer build right now because I just built this one a year and a half ago. I am doing some RAM and OS upgrades so I can use this computer for two or more years.

Understood..

Your wording left some doubt so I just though I'd ask. I've been running Vegas 8.1 happily on XP64 since it came out. I am now running v9.0a on Win7. Pleased with that too.

Megabit's warning that it is not supported is worth paying attention too. I can take that risk in my scenario. Some users cannot.

Forget Vista 64. Jump directly to Win 7 RC1. It runs as stable as XP - and I think that MS might let us install a bought Win 7 over RC1.

I have been running Vista 32 bit and I haven't had any issues with it after I did some tweaks like turning off the UAC baloney. I am getting a "gift" from Microsoft in the Vista 64 bit package - 7 RC. However, what I have been gathering from a lot of research on the Internet is you will have to do a clean install to get from Windows 7 RC to Windows 7 RTM.
