Looks like if you live outside of the US or in Arizona, you are out of luck...

From the rules: "The film needs to be conceptually centered on why Vegas is a superior application for digital audio editing."

How much attention should be focused on the video aspects?
Arks wrote on 4/14/2003, 4:47 PM
I think that may be a typo, I read that too..

I have a couple of questions. How can you submit a DVD Version in AVI Format? and Wouldn't you have to replace the 5400 rpm drive on the computer you won with a 7200 drive before you could use it effectivly for video work? I think this was put together by the marketing department and not the development folks. But it looks like fun and I need a good project to work on. Also I wasn't too impressed with the sample commercials. If I didn't already know what Vegas was and does the commercials would not have made any sense to me.

We, in our labs, have NEVER had any problems with good 5400RPM drives and Vegas 3 and 4. The 7200RPM drives are probably better, but I certainly wouldn't throw away any good 5400 drive someone gave me.

fUtZ,

Those are excluded in the rules.
wobblyboy wrote on 4/14/2003, 9:49 PM
O.K I guess I'll take it even if it only has a 5400 drive. Otherwise looks like a good computer.

It's distubing, really, to think that the company that created this fine product feels that "these spots set the standard", or that "they represent Vegas' attitude." I would have a great deal of trouble making something that uninspired and sophomoric.
Arks wrote on 4/14/2003, 11:34 PM
I dont want to be as harsh as you were with your comments, but maybe thats why they want us "creatives" to make the commercial. They stick to making a great product, and we stick to using that product to fuel our creativity.. makes sense to me =)

i have already got most of the stuff in the grand prize! what is the point!?!? they say that all the software you use must be a registered copy. so, you use the software you own, to win the software you already have. hmmmm was that an HP computer? yuck! they could have at least gave us a dell or something a bit more custom.
TheHappyFriar wrote on 4/15/2003, 9:16 AM
Why about using Photoshop or PsP to do some outside graphic work? Doe anyone know if that's alowed? But yeah, I se your point: Already bought Vegas or V+DVDA, so what would you do with a 2nd copy? :)
Arks wrote on 4/15/2003, 9:25 AM
I am wondering about the same thing with photoshop... or are we restricted to Vegas 4 only.
Trichome wrote on 4/15/2003, 9:38 AM
It would only make sense to me that using an outside image editing application for touch-ups and rotoscoping of still frames would be allowed. Just don't do your titling in another app and you should be fine.
Cheers.
