Vegas - A New Bug?

I've noticed something VERY weird with Vegas 5. I had a project named Space Images and at its end, after the credits, I had a short song...It's funny because I haven't touched the veggie file for 6 months....Yesterday, I decided to check it out and then I found out that the song mentioned above was playing in loops (Loop box was checked) but not until its end, as though it had been trimmed. I opened the audio file (its an mp3) with Sound Forge. Same thing. I checked its properties and there it was stated the song length was 9 seconds - in fact it was more than 20. WMP and Goldwave played the song OK (the full length) so this is a tip that the problem may not be with the OS. Finally, totally astonished (lol) I had to decompress the file with Goldwave and replace the defective file (or the way Vegas and Sound Forge had seen the file) with the newly generated WAV file. One more thing - as I was trying to set new properties (NTSC WIDE) for my project that originally was 4:3.....hmmmmm I pressed those keys in order to move the whole timeline....don't know what I've done wrong but ater after saving the project I noticed again that most audio tracks WERE OUT OF THEIR REPECTIVE PLACES...(I'm trying to calm down now..., sorry). I'll have to redo all the dolby panning - :0

Only one thing to add... make it an absolute rule that you never overwrite a file that you know to be a good version with one that you have just made a ton of changes to. Always save to a new Veg file.

I know that.....That was an accident!

Aha... yep... those times when you stub your toe are just as infuriating. We've all been there... and my suggestion should not be taken as meaning I have not done exactly the same thing either. Hopefully the 2nd edit turned out better than the first!

- Yes, you're right. I spent last night trying to fix that project. In fact I tried editing the file because of that problem with one of the audio files of the project. That stubborn MP3 file....Remember that? Sometimes I think to myself....the more I think I know about computers, the more I am mistaken. Waht do you think that happend to that sound file? A total, complete mystery. Vegas and Sound Forge were refusing to play the whole file - both were playing/openning just one third. Don't know what may have happened. Any tips? TNKS.
