Vegas accessing the Internet

Does anyone know why VV3 attempts to access the Internet when it loads?

Each time I launch VV3 my firewall (ZoneAlarm) asks me if I want to let it access the internet.

It is checking for updates. To turn it of go the preferences and deselect the automatically check for updates.

It will until you grant permission and click the check box not to ask you again---Or you can go to preferences and uncheck the box that says check for new downloads or something like that---
