Vegas & Acid keep crashing with video

This is my problem: Acid and VegasVideo work great until I try to preview video then the whole system either crashes and reboots or it locks up until I have to pull the plug on the computer. It is a brand new computer I put together with the following components:

Iwill KK266 motherboard with a VIA 133 chipset
AMD Athlon XP processor 1.4 ghz
M Audio Delta 66 soundcard
Voodoo 3000 16mb video card
WD 60gb hard drive
W98 SE

The only software that I run on the machine is the OS and SF's Vegas, Acid Pro and SoundForge. I have reformatted the hard drive twice to try to solve but nothing seems to work. Does anybody have any suggestions because I'm getting near wit's end? Thanks.

2 questions:

1) What exactly is the file type you are trying to play?

2) Do you have the latest Via drivers?

I have the latest 4 in 1 drivers. The .avi video type that I'm running is Microsoft YUV which I captured using an analog usb capture device from Dazzle, the DV creator 80. I think that VV3 may be having trouble reading that type of codec. I have an OHCI card installed but VV3 isn't recognizing it. It may be a faulty card (it is a generic CompUSA brand). Any ideas on a good OHCI card that works well with VV3? Thanks for the help.

Most folks seem to have the best luck with 1394 cards based on the TI chipset. I use the Pyro Basic which cost me around $50.
